When I was 10 years old, I learned that writing books was a job I could have. By the time I was 15, I’d refined my ambitions to writing books while raising a family. That ambition hasn’t wavered.
But the actual direction of my life is a more mercurial matter. My gifts lend me to both caregiving and writing. But how I give care and what I write about are directed by my spiritual life. When it comes to making decisions, the whims of my spirit hold the most sway, drawing me (I hope) ever closer in tune with the will of the Divine.
